How It Works

Our Full Lip Blush treatment is designed to treat lip imperfections, and it offers a semi-permanent solution for the ideal lip colour. Using a tiny, mechanised needle, our lip artists deposit pigment into your lips, building layers of colour. So, you can choose your perfect colour, whether to match your natural lip colour or your favourite lipstick. Our artists discuss your desires to ensure you get the look you love. There is also no need to worry about any pain, as we apply a topical anaesthetic to minimise discomfort during your treatment before the artist begins the consult and design process.

Before Your Appointment

Pre-Appointment Restrictions

The following restrictions are to ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for an amazing procedure.

Please read carefully:

- Please do not work out on the day of the procedure as body heat expands the pores.

- Avoid heavy sunlight and especially sunburn for three days before the procedure.

- The skin should not be in the process of healing before the procedure!

- Do NOT drink coffee or anything with caffeine on the day of the procedure.

- Do NOT take Fish oil, Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Ibuprofen, and/or omega-3, unless medically necessary, for 48-72 hours before the procedure (Tylenol or acetaminophen is okay!).

- Do NOT drink alcohol for 24 hours before or after the procedure.

- Do not have any type of facial procedure for two weeks before the procedure.

- Do not have Botox or dermal filler 2-4 weeks before the procedure.

Pre-Appointment Preparation

• Please begin to exfoliate your lips twice a week. We recommend using sugar and honey as a natural exfoliant.
• Please make sure your lips are hydrated by using lip balm every day prior to your appointment.
• If you have a history of coldsores, please see your doctor one week prior to your appointment to obtain any necessary medication to reduce the likelihood of cold sores appearing due to the lips healing.
• We recommend having a meal before your treatment as this can help you feel more comfortable throughout.

After The Procedure

Immediately Post Procedure

To decrease the risk of bruising and swelling, you may apply a cold compress or covered ice pack to the area. Make sure you move the ice pack around, not leaving it too long in one area (15 minutes at a time in 2 hour intervals), in order to prevent frostbite. Do not apply ice directly to the skin.

Avoid wiping/licking the lips. This will further traumatise the area and also impede the healing process.

We recommend you to apply a layer of the aftercare cream before eating and brushing your teeth to protect the area.

Aftercare Days 1-7

For the next 7 days, use your aftercare ointment 2-3 times daily (morning and night). Afterwards you can switch to paw paw ointment or lip balm. Use regularly to keep your lips moist.

We strongly recommend you to increase your Vitamin C intake to encourage healing.

If you suffer coldsores you can use Zovirax cream on affected area or see a doctor for prescription medication.

Do not pick/peel off any flaking skin - allow the flakes to fall off naturally (usually takes 4-7 days).

What to Expect

Day 1. Swelling, tender, heavy thick lipstick-look.

Day 2. Swelling, tender, reddish colour continues.

Day 3. Less swelling, thicker texture, sore, hot feeling before exfoliation, can be brick red colour.

Day 4. Exfoliation begins, very chapped lips.

Day 5. Very chapped, but almost finished with the first chapping stage. Remember DO NOT pick!

Day 6. A very soft, rich colour may begin to appear.

Day 7-13. Lip colour disappears ‘frosty’ (2nd chapping stage) begins as a whitish/greyish haze on the lips.

Day 1. Colour ‘blooms’ from within more and more each day, until 4 weeks post-procedure).

Day 30. Healing should be complete; the colour you see is the colour you have. Your lips will remain a bit dry for a month or two, so use a good lip balm with SPF 30 and they will return to normal but with full colour.

6-12 weeks. Client returns for a touch up to fill in any gaps or brighten the colour.

Important Reminders

- Use a fresh pillowcase when you sleep.

- Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour.

- No facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for four weeks.

- Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

- Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for four weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

- Avoid long, hot showers for the first ten days.

- Avoid sleeping on your face for the first ten days.

- Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first ten days.

- Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

- DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

- Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Also, keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body.

- A touch-up procedure is recommended 6-12 weeks after the initial treatment.

- Be careful when brushing your teeth as toothpaste can pull out the pigment out of the lip vermilion.

- For the first few days, drink with a straw and try your best to avoid food touching your lips.

Long Term Care

A lip colour enhancement generally lasts up to 5 years; however, this depends on your skin’s chemistry, the active ingredients in your skincare, and exposure to the elements.

We recommend clients to come back every 1-2 years for a refresh to maintain the colour. If you have fillers, we also suggest coming back to touch up the colour.

Cancellation/Rescheduling Policy

To reschedule, please contact us 48 hours prior to your appointment to avoid losing your deposit or complimentary retouch session. A surcharge of $150 will be required to be paid upfront to rebook.

FAQs on Lip Enhancement Tattooing

What Is A Lip Blush Tattoo?

Lip blushing is a form of lip tattoo that looks like a lip tint or lip gloss.

The tattoo technique deposits pigment into the top layers of the skin and is applied in tiny dots to subtly enhance the appearance of natural lip colour.

Where Do We Offer Our Lip Tattoo Service?

Our cosmetic lip tattoo Sydney salon is located in Birrong, NSW. Immerse yourself in a calming and inviting ambiance while our licensed and highly-skilled staff deliver remarkable results. We take pride in our ability to provide the best lip tattooing in Sydney, leaving our clients with the perfect pout.

How long does a lip blush tattoo last?

How long a lip tattoo lasts varies from person to person, but on average, they can last up to 5 years. Factors like skin type, sun exposure, and any active ingredients used on your lips can affect the longevity of the treatment. We recommend you schedule a touch-up appointment at our lip tattoo Sydney salon every 12-18 months to maintain the vibrancy of your lip tattoo.

Are Lip Tattoos Painful?

While lip tattoos may cause slight discomfort during the treatment, our professionals use advanced techniques to minimise pain as much as possible.

We use topical anaesthetics to numb the lips and ensure the procedure is as comfortable as possible. Everyone's pain tolerance is different, and while some clients may experience little to no discomfort, others may find the process slightly uncomfortable.

How Can I Speed Up The Healing Of My Lip Tattoo?

You’ll be given aftercare ointment by our team which we recommend applying twice daily (morning and night) for 7 days following your treatment.

Afterward, you can switch to using paw paw ointment or lip balm regularly to keep your lips moist. It is also strongly advised to increase your intake of Vitamin C to promote healing. For those who suffer from cold sores, Zovirax cream can be used on the affected area, or a doctor can prescribe medication.

We also suggest avoiding hot showers, sweaty exercise, swimming face down, sleeping on your face, lip makeup and botox for 7 - 10 days post procedure.

Make sure you don’t pick your lips - just let dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour. Your lips will look very dry and chapped as they heal, and the colour actually gets lighter, but then “blooms” more each day and you will see the true colour at 4 weeks post procedure results.

The team at our lip tattoo Sydney salon are here to help with any questions you may have post procedure. Please reach out to us with any questions; you won’t find better care for your lip blush tattoo in sydney!

What are the benefits of lip blush tattoos?
  • Enhance the natural shape and colour of the lips
  • Create a more symmetrical and defined appearance.
  • Hide or minimise scars
  • Save time and money on daily makeup application
Does lip blushing make your lips look bigger?

The lip blush technique can make your lips appear fuller but it doesn’t actually change your lip size. We slightly overline the lips, however your artist will discuss your options during the appointment.

You may experience some swelling for 2-3 days post treatment.

How long does the lip blush procedure take?

Approximately 1.5 hours. This includes numbing, colour selection, lip mapping and the treatment.

Can I wear lipstick after getting lip blush?

We recommend you to avoid wearing lipstick during the initial healing process, which can take about a week. Once the lips have fully healed, you can resume using lip products as usual.

Can anyone get lip blush?

Lip blush is suitable for most individuals, but it's important to consult with us if you are unsure if it is appropriate for you. People with certain medical conditions, skin sensitivities, or those prone to keloid scarring may not be suitable candidates for the procedure.

What is the lip tattoo healing process day-by-day?
  • Day 1–2: Lips will appear bold, bright, and slightly swollen (similar to having fresh filler).
  • Day 3–5: Lips feel dry and may begin to flake or peel. Do not pick at the skin, as this can cause patchy results.
  • Day 6–10: The colour may seem to 'disappear' (the ghosting phase). This is a normal part of skin regeneration.
  • Week 4–6: The true lip blush tattoo in Sydney colour 'blooms' from within, revealing the final, soft result.
Can I get a lip blush tattoo if I have lip fillers?

Yes! In fact, many clients choose a cosmetic lip tattoo in Sydney to add definition that fillers can sometimes soften. We recommend waiting at least 4–6 weeks after your filler appointment before getting a lip tattoo to ensure the filler has fully settled.

Can you have a lip tattoo if you are prone to cold sores?

Yes, however, the procedure can trigger an outbreak if you carry the virus. We strongly advise clients to obtain preventative anti-viral medication from a doctor one week prior to their lip blush tattoo in Sydney to ensure a smooth healing process.

Is it better to do a lip tattoo before or after filler?

It is generally better to have your filler done first. This allows your artist to see the final shape and volume of your lips before, ensuring the pigment is perfectly placed.

Why does my lip tattoo look so light after two weeks?

This is known as the "ghosting" phase. As the skin heals, the new skin is thicker and temporarily masks the pigment. Don't panic—your colour will "bloom" and become more vibrant between weeks 4 and 6
