Eyebrow Microblading Guide
Eyebrow microblading has become the go-to semi-permanent solution for fuller and more defined eyebrows. If you're thinking about trying this treatment, our comprehensive guide covers everything from the basics to aftercare and costs. So, let's jump right in and explore all things microblading!
What is eyebrow microblading?
Microblading is a cosmetic beauty procedure that uses a semi-permanent tattoo technique to make eyebrows look fuller and more precisely shaped.
With microblading, the ink is delivered to the skin using a specialised handheld tool equipped with ultra-fine needles. These needles are arranged linearly, resembling a small blade (microblade). The technician carefully and skillfully glides the microblade across the skin, depositing pigment into the upper layers of the dermis.
This creates natural-looking, hair-like strokes that result in more defined, fuller-looking eyebrows.
How long does eyebrow microblading last?
In general, microblade eyebrows last for 12 to 24 months. However, the longevity of your brows depends on a few factors, including your skin type (eyebrow microblading tattoo pigment fades quicker on oily skin) and lifestyle.
For example, suppose you spend a lot of time in the sun or use skincare with a high concentration of active ingredients (like retinol or acids). In this case, your temporary eyebrow microblading will fade faster.
Eyebrow microblading shapes
The shape of your brows can completely change how your face looks; for better or worse! The right brow shape will compliment your features and bring symmetry to your face, while the wrong shape can make your face look older or out of balance.

Depending on your facial structure and preference, you have different eyebrow microblading shapes. Some popular shapes include:
Straight: This shape creates a youthful appearance and works well for those with round or heart-shaped faces.
Soft arch: A soft arch adds subtle definition and lift to the brow and is suitable for most face shapes.
High arch: A high arch creates a dramatic and glamorous look, best suited for those with a strong bone structure and prominent features.
S-shaped: The S-shaped brow creates a natural, soft curve that flatters oval and long face shapes.
In addition to eyebrow microblading shapes, your skin tone and hair colour should be considered. Both are super important when picking the perfect shade for your eyebrows.
With so many pigment colours to choose from, we generally suggest a colour that's just a little darker than your hair. This way, your face will be beautifully framed, and your eyes will really stand out.
At Tanya Beauty Care, our talented technicians work with you to discover the ideal shape and shade for your eyebrows so you're happy and comfortable with the agreed look before even beginning the treatment. Check out the before and after eyebrow microblading transformations of our happy clients.
Pre-Process: Preparing for your microblading procedure
Like any cosmetic tattoo, getting your eyebrows microbladed is something you should prepare for to ensure the best outcome. Here are a few of the questions we are most asked about what happens before the procedure.
Do they shave eyebrows before microblading?
No. A technician should not shave or wax your brows off before the procedure. Instead, they will tidy up the area of stray hairs but not shave or wax your brows completely.
Can I get my eyebrows microbladed while pregnant?
It's typically advised against getting an eyebrow tattoo while pregnant, as there could be potential risks and heightened sensitivity during this time.
Can you get your eyebrows microbladed while breastfeeding
The pigment may pose risks to your baby, so we suggest checking in with your trusted health provider first.
Don't take aspirin, vitamin E, or ibuprofen 24 hours before your microblading appointment. We also advise you to avoid sipping caffeinated beverages on the day of the treatment.
Aftercare: The do's and don'ts after eyebrow microblading
A beautiful brow outcome relies heavily on the skill of your technician, but how quickly (and well!) your brows heal and how long they last comes down to quality aftercare.
Aftercare microblading do's
Apply your aftercare ointment for 7 days
After your procedure with Tanya Beauty Care, we'll give you a post-treatment ointment to apply to your brow area for 1 week post-procedure.
Stay out of the sun
Wear a hat and stay out of direct sunlight for 4 weeks post procedure. Even after 4 weeks, we suggest staying sunsafe outdoors to prolong the life of your brows.
Use a clean pillowcase
Change your pillowcase daily for the first 10 days and don't sleep with your face down.
Keep your face dry
Keep showers to 5 minutes to minimise steam, and keep your face/procedure area away from the water while washing your body.
Aftercare microblading don'ts
Pick at scabs
You'll experience scabbing during day 5 -7 post-procedure, this is completely normal. The important thing to remember is to allow scabs to exfoliate and fall off naturally as picking can lead to scarring or colour loss. Don't pick, rub or scratch the treated area.
Get facial treatments
Steer clear of chemical peels, microdermabrasion, botox or facials for 4 weeks after the procedure.
Get sweaty or swim
Avoid sweaty, strenuous exercise for 1 week stay away from face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs.
Microblading eyebrows aftercare FAQs
When can I wash my face after microblading?
Wait at least 7 days before washing your eyebrow area when you cleanse your face after microblading. After this time, you can gently wash your eyebrow area with a mild cleanser.
Can I get my eyebrows wet after microblading?
No. Avoid getting your eyebrows wet for at least 7 days after microblading.
Can I put bepanthen on my microbladed eyebrows?
No. We recommend using the post-treatment ointment.
**This point needs clarification / input from the client. I'm not sure if Skin Tattoo Cream - available in the store - is also the post-treatment ointment or it is a different cream. BePANTHEN is an antiseptic cream - so I'm not sure if the post-treatment ointment has antiseptic properties to be used (rather than a commercial cream) - Skin Tattoo Cream doesn't have antiseptic properties according to the description.
Can I tint my eyebrows after microblading
Yes but you'll need to wait for at least 4-6 weeks after microblading (or until the area is fully healed) to tint your eyebrows.
How long does microblading last?
Microbladed eyebrows typically last 12 -24 months, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. Touch-up appointments are recommended every 6 -12 months to maintain the shape and colour of your eyebrows.
To keep your eyebrows looking their best for as long as possible, make sure you are diligent about long-term aftercare. This means protecting your face from the sun and avoiding using skincare products with high concentrations of active ingredients in the brow area.
Microblading pain, risks, and concerns
Does eyebrow microblading hurt?
The procedure can cause mild discomfort, but most technicians, including our team, apply a numbing cream to minimise any pain. Everyone has a different pain threshold, so some people may experience more discomfort than others even with the numbing cream. Overall, most people will find any pain associated with microblading tolerable.
Does microblading damage your eyebrows?
The procedure does not damage your natural eyebrow hair or cause hair loss. However, if not done correctly, microblading can lead to scarring or pigment migration. Taking a risk and choosing an inexperienced technician or poorly-reviewed brow salon can leave you with unattractive, uneven brows. You could potentially be left feeling self conscious about your appearance for at least 6 months. It's not worth the risk.
At Tanya Beauty Care we've earned an impeccable reputation and you'll be in the best care with our team of highly skilled cosmetic artists.
Microblading over tattooed eyebrows
Microblading can be done over tattooed eyebrows, but the outcome will depend on a few factors such as the colour and age of the existing tattoo. Consult a professional microblading artist to determine if this option suits you.
Can you get microblading if you have no eyebrows?
Yes! Microblading can be used to create entire brows. Once again, it is crucial to choose a skilled microblading artist with experience doing microblading with no eyebrows. The process can be more challenging than working with a client with eyebrows.
Healing stages of microblading
It will take roughly a month for your brows to settle into their permanent state. They will likely appear good throughout the healing stage, but you can expect subtle changes from week to week.
Here's a general guide line of what you can expect:
- Tenderness in the area
- Pink or redness around the affected area
- Swelling
- Thickening and darkening of the eyebrow area
- Moderate to thick scabbing 3-4 days following the procedure
- Between days 5 - 10 post procedure, the scabs will begin to flake off
- After scabs flake off, pigment colour and strokes will look light, grey, and blurry
- After area is fully healed (4 weeks after procedure), the pigment will return to full colour

Long term effects of microblading eyebrows
All cosmetic tattoo procedures pose a certain level of risk. The long-term effects of microblading eyebrows, if not done correctly, can be an infection in the brow area or, as we mentioned, dealing with uneven, unattractive brows for months post-procedure.
Even if you've chosen an expert artist, the results won't be optimal if you neglect aftercare and pick at your skin during the scabbing stage.
Microblading vs other brow techniques
Eyebrow Feathering vs. Microblading

Technique
Feathering is often considered a gentler approach compared to microblading. It involves using a lighter touch and finer strokes with a manual hand tool, allowing the artist to create the appearance of individual hair strands.
While they share similarities, microblading involves making small, precise cuts in the skin with a manual blade to deposit pigment, creating hair-like strokes that mimic natural eyebrows.
Appearance
Eyebrow feathering offers a more subtle and natural-looking result, as the finer strokes blend seamlessly with the existing brow hairs. The feathering technique could be suitable if you want a more understated enhancement to your eyebrows.
Microblading typically produces more defined and bold results, with strokes appearing more prominent and sharp. It's an excellent choice if you're after a more dramatic brow transformation.
Longevity
Microblading generally provides longer-lasting results compared to eyebrow feathering. The deeper pigment deposition in the skin during microblading ensures that the colour remains vibrant for an extended period, usually lasting between 18 to 24 months. Feathering, with its lighter touch, tends to fade faster and may require touch-ups more frequently.
Eyebrow Lamination vs. Microblading

Procedure
Rather than cutting the skin, eyebrow lamination is a non-invasive treatment that involves setting the eyebrow hairs in place using a specialised solution. The process includes lifting, setting, and tinting the brows, which creates a fuller, more defined appearance.
Appearance
Eyebrow lamination focuses on working with the existing brow hairs, giving them a well-groomed and fuller appearance. The result is a more defined and polished look without adding any additional hair strokes. Microblading creates the illusion of individual hair strands, which can help fill in sparse areas and create a more dramatic brow transformation.
Longevity
One of the main differences between eyebrow lamination and microblading is the duration of the results. Lamination is a temporary treatment, with the effects typically lasting 4-6 weeks. It requires regular maintenance to keep the brows looking their best.
Eyebrow Tattoo vs. Microblading

Procedure
Eyebrow tattooing involves using a tattoo machine to deposit pigment into the skin, creating a permanent design or shape.
The technique typically produces solid, block-like colouring and defined lines in contrast to the microblading technique that creates hair-like strokes resembling natural eyebrow hairs.
Appearance
Eyebrow tattoos generally result in a more dramatic, uniform appearance with a bold, defined shape and saturated colour.
This technique may suit those seeking a bold, lasting brow enhancement. In contrast, microblading offers a more natural-looking outcome by simulating individual hairs, which can help fill in sparse areas and create a subtle brow transformation.
Longevity
A key difference between eyebrow tattoos and microblading is the duration of the results. Eyebrow tattoos are longer lasting as the pigment is deposited deeper into the skin and can last several years, although the colour may fade.
Microblading provides a semi-permanent solution, with results generally lasting between 18 to 24 months before requiring a touch-up.

Eyebrow Tattoo Basics and Aftercare
What is an eyebrow tattoo?
Eyebrow tattooing is a cosmetic procedure where pigment is implanted into the skin using a specialised technique to create the appearance of fuller, more defined eyebrows.
This process can be a great solution for those with sparse, over-plucked, or uneven eyebrows. Cosmetic tattoo eyebrows can look natural, and the results can last for several years, depending on factors like skin type and lifestyle.

We invite you to explore our eyebrow tattoo before and after photos to see the fantastic results we’ve achieved for our clients.
How long does eyebrow tattoo last?
Are eyebrow tattoos permanent? No. In general, you can expect the results to last up to two years.
The longevity of your eyebrow tattooing will depend on a few factors. Did you know your skin type can impact how long your eyebrow tattoos last? If you have oily skin, which is prone to excessive sebum production, a cosmetic eyebrow tattoo may not last as long compared to a dry skin type.
Lifestyle factors and skincare also play a role. For example, spending a lot of time outdoors in the sun and using high concentrations of active ingredients in your skin care products can speed up how quickly your brows fade. Touch-ups may be required to maintain the desired look and we recommend our clients to come back for a refresh every 10-12 months to maintain the colour.
Consider your face shape and skin tone
Eyebrow tattooing is highly customised to suit each client’s preferred eyebrow shape, skin tone, and hair colour. Before undergoing feathering or microblading procedures, your cosmetic tattoo artist will work with you to find a brow shape that perfectly complements your facial structure.
Here are some prevalent facial shapes paired with suitable eyebrow styles:
- A compact square face may appear elongated with arched eyebrows
- Wider-set eyes and broader nose bridges can be enhanced by close-set brows
- Fuller faces can be balanced by thick brows, creating the illusion of a smaller face
- Gentle, rounded faces can gain definition with angular eyebrows

The tone of your skin and colour of your hair play a crucial role in selecting the right shade for your brows. There are a range of pigment colours available and usually a colour slightly darker than the hair will frame the face and draw attention to the eye area.
Eyebrow tattoo healing: What to expect
There are distinct stages of eyebrow tattoo healing and the importance of aftercare in phase can’t be overstated. In general, here are the common things to expect as your permanent makeup heals and then stabilises.
- Tenderness in the area
- Pink or redness around the affected area
- Swelling
- Thickening and darkening of the eyebrow area
- Moderate to thick scabbing 3-4 days following the procedure
- Between days 5 - 10 post procedure the scabs will begin to flake off
- After scabs flake off, pigment colour and strokes will look light, grey, and blurry
- After area is fully healed (4 weeks after procedure) the pigment will return to full colour
Everyone heals differently and the above eyebrow tattoo healing stages should be used as a guide only. Individual skin tones and ability to absorb pigment can vary greatly.

Does eyebrow tattooing hurt?
The level of discomfort experienced during eyebrow tattooing can vary from person to person. A topical anaesthetic is used to numb the area, which can help minimise any pain or discomfort during the procedure.
Eyebrow tattoo aftercare
How you take care of your eyebrow tattoos in the short term will have a huge impact on how quickly they heal. In the long term, the right aftercare can prolong the longevity of your luscious looking brows.
Immediate post procedure: Blot the skin
Immediately following the procedure gently blot the area with a clean tissue to absorb excess lymph fluid. Do this every 5 minutes for 30 minutes until the oozing has stopped. Removing this fluid prevents the hardening of the lymphatic fluids.
Days 1 - 7 post procedure: Aftercare ointment
Our team will provide you with aftercare ointment which should be applied in the week following the treatment.
Use a cotton swab to apply a small, rice grain-sized amount of the aftercare ointment to the treated area. Avoid applying too much, as this may hinder your skin's ability to breathe and slow the healing process. The ointment should be barely visible on the skin. Always ensure the tattoo is neither wet nor damp before applying the ointment.
You’ll also need to avoid sweating and getting water on your brows; keep them totally dry in the week following the treatment.
Other tips eyebrow tattoo aftercare:
- Avoid direct sunlight for 4 weeks after the procedure; always wear a hat outdoors
- Sleep on a clean pillowcase.
- Allow scabs or dry skin to exfoliate naturally. Picking may lead to scarring or colour loss.
- Refrain from facials, Botox, chemical treatments, or microdermabrasion for four weeks.
- Steer clear of hot, strenuous exercise for one week.
- For the initial ten days, avoid extended hot showers.
- For the first ten days, don't sleep with your face down.
- For the initial ten days, stay away from face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs.
- Do not apply makeup or sunscreen to the area.
- Refrain from rubbing, picking, or scratching the treated area.
- Keep showers to 5 minutes to minimise steam, and keep your face/procedure area away from the water while washing your body.
Long-term care and maintenance
Maintaining your brows best appearance for as long as possible is highly dependent on your commitment to long-term aftercare. As we mentioned, keeping your face protected from the sun and avoiding the use of skincare with a high concentration of active ingredients on the brow area can help prolong the life of your brows.

Different Eyebrow Tattoo Techniques and Styles
Understanding the differences between the eyebrow tattoo techniques, like a feather tattoo eyebrows and powder eyebrow tattoos will help you find the best option for your ultimate brows.
Eyebrow Tattoo vs Microblading
Microblading is a type of cosmetic eyebrow tattoo, but it differs from traditional tattooing in a few key ways.
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo technique using a handheld tool with fine needles to create hair-like strokes that mimic your natural eyebrow hairs, whereas traditional brow tattooing uses a machine.
On the other hand, the process of getting your eyebrows tattooed to fill them out is done with a tattoo machine; meaning needles penetrate the skin and inject the ink.
Also, microblading involves inserting pigment into the skin in a more superficial manner, which means that the effects don't last as long as traditional tattoos.
However, microblading can create a more natural-looking eyebrow by mimicking the look of individual hairs. This is achieved by using a fine blade to make small, hair-like strokes in the skin and then filling in the strokes with pigment.
The microblading technique is used in our salon to create various brow styles including Micro-feather Brows and our TBC Signature Combination brows.
Micro-Feather Tattoo Eyebrows
Feather tattoo eyebrows are a style created by the microblading technique that offers a natural, feathery appearance by using fine strokes to mimic individual eyebrow hairs. The feathering technique is perfect for those who want to enhance their eyebrows' shape and fullness without going for a bold, solid look.

TBC Signature Combination Brows
With this type of brow, we blend the microblading eyebrow tattoo technique with the powder eyebrow tattoo - more on that in a moment.
The inner brow gets a feather stroke eyebrow tattoo that includes hair strokes, while the tails are powdered to achieve the perfect definition. The result is a fantastic compromise between a hair stroke and powder-filled effect that achieves a beautifully natural yet defined brow.
Hair strokes are also added around the outer line of the arch to soften the powdered tails.
Is microblading for you?
Microblading is a fantastic option if you are;
- Desiring natural-looking and voluminous eyebrows
- Dealing with sparse and uneven brows
- Experiencing hair loss issues
- Seeking a gentle enhancement of your brow shape
- Wanting the wake-up-and-go look with no brow makeup required
Powder Eyebrow Tattoo
If you love that makeup-like appearance for your eyebrows, the powder eyebrow tattoo technique could be the best option for you.

Also known as ombre or powder brows, this method uses a specialised tool to create a soft, powdery, and gradient effect on the eyebrows. It's ideal for those who like a more filled-in look. Powder eyebrow tattoos can last for several years, depending on factors like skin type and lifestyle.
Are powder brows for you?
Powder brows are a great choice if;
- You’d like a more natural appearance or lush, full brows
- Your skin is oily or acne-prone
- You’d love to enhance the definition and hue of your eyebrows
- You like the "powder-filled brows" aesthetic

What are the aftercare and healing stages after having cosmetic tattoo eyebrow?
Eyebrow tattooing is increasingly popular both in Australia and overseas and for good reason.
When expertly done, eyebrow tattoos can perfectly enhance your natural brow and provide a welcome boost of confidence – not to mention speeding up the morning make-up routine.
However, while this type of cosmetic tattoo is incredibly effective, it does involve a little time and care to achieve the best results, especially when it comes to aftercare and healing.
Whether you have already had your eyebrows cosmetically tattooed and are in the healing process or are considering having them done, we’re here to help.
In this guide, we’ll delve into appropriate aftercare following eyebrow tattooing as well as what to expect during the healing stage and things to avoid.
By following our tips you’ll be on your way to your best brows in no time at all.
What Is A Cosmetic Tattoo?
A cosmetic tattoo is similar in many ways to traditional tattoos in that they both involve the placement of ink under the skin.
Unlike regular tattooing, however, cosmetic tattoos are only semi-permanent. Where tattoos are placed deep in the skin below the dermis, cosmetic tattoos sit between the dermis and the upper layer of skin, the epidermis.
Primarily used on the face, cosmetic tattoos can be used to apply eyeliner, enhance lip colour and create fuller eyebrows. The latter of which we will be focusing on in this guide.
Types Of Cosmetic Eyebrow Tattoos
While eyebrow tattooing is now mostly synonymous with microblading there are actually a few different methods for tattooing eyebrows (types). These include:
Microblading/Feathering
This tattooing technique involves using a small handheld microblading tool to create natural-looking hair strokes.
Drawn in the direction of your brow's existing hair growth and added in layers, this method delivers incredibly realistic and natural results.
Microshading/Mist Brow
Also applied using a small handheld tool, microshading involves placing hundreds of very small, pin-like dots within the brow area.
This softens the appearance of thinner brows by filling in these areas and giving the illusion of fuller brows overall. Often considered as looking less natural, this is still highly effective and at times better suited to achieving the desired look.
Ombre Brow
Using a similar technique to the above, ombre brows also use a dotting technique to create a soft gradient or powdered look that is darker at the inner corners of the brow and lighter towards the outer brow area.
Despite being quite a soft finish, it is possible to achieve a defined brown using this technique.
Combination Brow
As the name suggests, a combination brow incorporates aspects of both microblading and microshading to achieve the desired outcome.
Using both these techniques can facilitate a natural-looking brow with added fullness and allows for tailoring in terms of how bold or soft it looks when done.
No matter which type of cosmetic eyebrow tattoo you opt for, the process for having these applied, the aftercare and the healing process all remain much the same.

Cosmetic Tattoo - Eyebrow Aftercare
Depending on where you have had your tattooing performed, you should be provided with aftercare instructions and either a cream or ointment to apply in the following weeks that will aid in healing.
The most important aftercare tips for cosmetic tattoo eyebrows include the following:
- Your eyebrows must not get wet for at least 10 to 15 days post-tattooing. This includes sweat, rain and keeping them out of the water in the shower.
- No make-up or lotions other than the provided aftercare cream should be applied anywhere near the eyebrow area
- You should avoid touching or wiping your eyebrows
- Sun exposure should be limited
Why Is Aftercare So Important?
Your eyebrow tattoos are essentially open wounds until healed. Adhering to the aftercare instructions limits the risk of infections during the healing process while also facilitating better outcomes.
Improper aftercare can cause your tattoos to become infected, fade or become distorted. Not only does this leave you with a poor result that will need corrective work, but it can make for an unnecessarily painful and longer recovery overall.
Healing Stages Of Cosmetic Eyebrow Tattoos
The following is a rough timeline intended to help you identify the various healing stages after having a cosmetic tattoo on your eyebrows.
Keep in mind that every individual will heal differently. Factors such as age, overall health, skin type and more will all influence your healing journey.
Days 1 - 4
Immediately after having your eyebrows tattooed, the area will be quite red and may appear a little swollen. This usually subsides in a matter of hours, please refrain from icing your brows to speed up this process as this may cause them to get wet.
The intensity of the ink will also be quite pronounced, typically it is around 70% darker at this time than when fully healed.
We understand that due to this, your first glimpse of your brows can be a little confronting and may cause you to have feelings of panic. Rest assured that so long as you care for them, they will heal to a beautiful result.
Days 5 - 10
Between day five and ten post-tattooing, you should expect your eyebrows to start scabbing and flaking. This is all perfectly normal and indicates the brows are beginning to heal.
It is important not to pick, scratch or rub at your eyebrows during this time. Using the provided aftercare lotion can help ease any itching or discomfort at this stage.
Days 8 - 11
At around day eight, you may be alarmed to see that the colour which was initially very bold has begun to fade right back. In some cases, it may appear that the ink has disappeared completely.
Once again, this is normal and no cause for panic, the colour will begin to reappear as the healing continues.
At this point in healing, you may get your eyebrows wet, but should still avoid rubbing at them or using any soaps or face wash. They should be gently patted dry with a clean cloth post-showering.
Days 11 - 41
This last but often quite long stage should see your brows free of scabbing or flaking and the colour reemerge.
The tattoo may also look spotty or uneven during this time. While the majority of the tattoo should settle by the end of this period, a follow-up visit to your technician is necessary.
During this visit, following the complete healing of the initial procedure at between 6 to 8 weeks, touch-ups or tweaks can be made to correct any concerns over shape or colour saturation.
While this step is usually less intensive than the initial tattooing, the same aftercare guidelines and timelines for healing apply.

Things To Avoid During The Healing Process
Wondering what else to avoid during the healing stages of cosmetic tattoos for eyebrows? Aside from the aftercare tips provided above, within the first 14 days we also suggest you avoid the following:
- Smoking or consuming an excess of alcohol, as this can slow healing
- Driving or riding in open-air vehicles as airborne debris and the force of the wind on your face may irritate the already sensitive area
- Wearing any full-face helmets, hats or beanies that come into contact with the eyebrow region
- Saunas and any exercise that will induce sweating
- Sunbaking or tanning as during healing the pigment is more vulnerable to fading from UV/UVA rays
- Picking, peeling or scratching, no matter how tempting, as this can lift the pigment from the skin
- Having any facials, botox, fillers or peels
- Applying any disinfectant or alcohol-based antibacterial products as these will dry out the area
Are There Ways To Speed Up Healing?
While there are no proven methods for expediting the healing process there are ways in which you can support your body to help this along. Here are some extra things to do during the healing stages after having cosmetic tattoos on your eyebrows.
As well as following all aftercare advice and the above situations, it is recommended to drink plenty of water and to consistently apply the provided aftercare lotion.
The reason for this is that hydrated skin is known to heal and rejuvenate itself more quickly.
Getting plenty of sleep can also aid in faster healing as during sleep our muscles, including those in our face experience an increase in blood flow. This brings more oxygen and nutrients to injured areas which helps cells to regenerate.
When To Seek Help
Occasionally, complications can occur during the healing process. If you experience ongoing pain, tenderness, fever, green or yellow discharge or similar, these are all signs that your healing cosmetically tattooed eyebrows need additional aftercare.
In these instances, we recommend that you contact your technician and make an appointment with your GP.

What are the different stages of eyebrow microblading?
If you’ve long been admiring the beautiful brows of celebrities or friends who have invested in microblading, you’re no doubt tempted to try it yourself.
Whether you’re fairly comfortable with or aware of what to expect, or have minimal information on what’s involved, we recommend doing your research first.
While microblading no doubt delivers beautiful results, getting these results includes several stages and a little time to achieve.
To ensure you are fully informed, properly prepared and ready to experience the benefits of microblading for yourself, we’ve prepared this detailed guide on the exact process.
What Is Microblading Exactly?
Microblading is a type of cosmetic tattoo used to enhance the appearance of the eyebrows. It can be used to correct concerns over eyebrow shape while also giving the illusion of fuller brows.
Previous methods for tattooing eyebrows involved depositing ink deeply into the skin for a permanent, usually very heavy-looking result.
Microblading, by comparison, offers a natural-looking, semi-permanent alternative in which ink is gently feathered into the brows just below the epidermis. This is done using a specialist tool made up of several tiny needles.
Microblading – What To Expect From Start To Finish
There are many different stages of eyebrow microblading, the actual microblading itself is one of the most brief parts of the entire process.
If you’re curious to know what the different stages of eyebrow microblading involve, the following information should answer any queries you may have.
Consultation
One of the first and most important steps of eyebrow microblading is the initial consultation.
During this consultation, our experts take a look at your natural eyebrow shape to help determine where they need to be tattooed for optimal fullness.
Even if you have very sparse brows or non-existent brows, we will still look at your brow area to get an idea of what is going to work best for you.
It is important that you attend this consultation with clean brows free of any pencil, tint or waxes used to hold them in place. This ensures we are seeing your brows in their natural state and we have a clear picture of what we are working with.
At this stage, we will often take some before photos so you can compare the results once the process is complete.
Measuring
If you’re comfortable going ahead following the initial consultation, the next step is to measure out and mark the position of your new brows.
This step is done with utmost care and attention as it determines how even your brows will be. Using rulers and/or callipers we perform a series of measurements to perfectly place your eyebrows in the most natural position.
At this time, we will also discuss with you your preferred look in terms of brow shape, if you’re unsure we can help guide you based on what we feel will suit your face.
Our goal is to see you with brows that perfectly complement your face while also meeting your personal preferences.
Review
Once the shape and finish of your brows have been agreed upon, we will pencil in your eyebrows to give you a chance to review your decision.
Keep in mind that this step is not intended to represent the final look. The colour of the pencil is likely to be wrong and the solid shading is nothing like the feathering done during microblading.
Pencilling in is all about checking the shape and positioning before the tattooing begins. Remember, once your brows are done, you’ll be living with them for a few years at least unless you opt for laser removal.
Make sure you are 100% happy with this and speak up if not, we promise we don’t mind making adjustments, we take pride in our work and want you to love your brows!
Colour Mixing
When selecting a colour for your eyebrows, we suggest opting for one that best matches your skin's natural undertones. You can opt for a darker shade or lighter depending on your desired look.
We are also able to custom-mix colours as needed for the best fit and may paint a small amount onto your skin to check its suitability before getting started.
Tattooing
If you’ve never had a tattoo, cosmetic or otherwise, this next step can be a little daunting. While microblading is not pain-free, most of our clients are pleasantly surprised to find that it just feels like a series of small scratches.
Usually, the body quickly adjusts to this feeling and it becomes easier to relax into the session. On occasion, you may feel like you need to sneeze or experience watery eyes or a runny nose during the tattooing, this is also totally normal. If at any time you need to take a short break, just let us know.
Your brows will be tattooed on in layers to gradually build up the shape and colour using tiny hair-like strokes. In terms of time, you should expect it to take between two to three hours from consultation to the finishing of the tattoo stage.
Immediately after your brows are finished the area is going to look quite red and may feel a little tender or swollen. This usually dissipates quite quickly within a matter of hours.
The colour of your brow tattoo will also appear much darker (up to 70% darker) initially compared to where they will end up when fully healed.
Pain Management
If you are very concerned about possible discomfort, we recommend taking some paracetamol an hour or so before your appointment. Anaesthetic creams are advised against as they soften the skin and prohibit the ink from taking properly.

Healing
Easily the longest stage, full healing of your newly microbladed brows can take upwards of a month. The exact timeline will vary based on a few factors such as age, skin type and the health of the individual.
Clear instructions on aftercare will be provided including the provision of a cream that aids in healing.
For the first two weeks, you must keep your brows completely dry. This means no exercise that induces sweating and keeping your face dry during a shower. No make-up should be worn in the first week either.
Just as with any tattoo, the treated skin is an open wound, so keeping the area clean and dry is the best way to avoid potential infections.
During the first week, you may experience some itching or peeling and it may appear that your brows are fading significantly. All of this is expected during the healing process and we promise it will all settle, even the colour – just try not to touch or pick at them as this can impact the results.
If at any stage you have concerns over how your brows are healing or experience unexpected swelling or redness please let us know so we can best advise you on the next steps.
Touch Ups
Between 6 to 8 weeks following your initial session and once all healing is complete, a second session of microblading is required. This session allows you to tweak your results and ensures the best possible final look.
The healing process and aftercare are the same following these touch-ups so be prepared to be patient a little while longer. We promise it’s worth it!

Maintaining Your Microbladed Brows
Once done and healed, your newly microbladed eyebrows can remain looking great for anywhere between 18 months to 2.5 years before needing to be redone.
How long your brows will last is often down to how well you care for them. While they are semi-permanent and designed to fade over time, you can help them retain their colour by:
- Always applying sunscreen with a high SPF before heading outdoors
- Wearing a hat or visor to protect them when in the sun
- Avoiding the use of skincare near your brows that contain retinol, glycolic acid, salicylic acid or vitamin C as they can be detrimental to the integrity of the pigment
- Being gentle when shaping your eyebrows or using make-up on them as this protects the underlying skin
Is Microblading Safe For Everyone?
Microblading is safe for most people to undergo, however, we do ask that you let us know:
- If you have ever experienced an allergic reaction to hair dye
- If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
- If you are currently taking thyroid medication or blood thinners
- If you are receiving treatment for skin concerns and taking Accutane or steroids
- If you have diabetes
- If you have previously had Botox or fillers in the brow area
- If you are prone to keloid scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- If you are undergoing chemotherapy
While we may still be able to assist in some of the above situations, we may request confirmation from your healthcare provider that it is safe to do so. Our primary concern is your safety and wellbeing at all times.

How to remove eyebrow microblading? Safety guide
So, you're considering eyebrow microblading removal? Maybe your recent brow treatment didn't quite live up to expectations. It happens, and there are options to address it.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we're well-versed in how to remove eyebrow microblading and ending our clients' bad brow nightmares! Let's get into the details.
Microblading - Natural Fading vs. Active Removal
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing technique, using a handheld tool to insert pigment superficially into the skin.
The result is hair-like strokes that mimic natural brow hairs. However, unlike traditional tattoos, microblading fades over time, often between 1 to 3 years, depending on various factors.
Does Microblading Fade?
Yes, microblading naturally fades over time. Factors such as skin type, sun exposure, skincare products, and lifestyle can impact the rate at which the pigment fades.
For many, this gradual fading is a desirable feature, allowing changes to the eyebrows' appearance as facial features and preferences evolve.
Eyebrow Microblading Removal
When it comes to your brows, if you're unhappy with how they look, you might decide you want to speed up the removal process of that microblading pigment. The go-to method for actively taking out that pigment? Laser tattoo removal. This is the technique we’ll explore in depth today.

How to Remove Eyebrow Microblading?
If you want to fade or remove eyebrow microblading, you have a few options. It’s always best to speak with a professional to see which is right for you.
Laser Tattoo Removal
Laser removal is one of the best treatments out there for eyebrow microblading removal. If done right, you can get impressive results, leaving you with a clean canvas.
Whether you want to return to a natural look or consider another microblading session, the choice is yours.
Using laser technology, the pigment particles from the microblading are broken down, allowing the body to naturally flush them out. Several sessions might be required to achieve the desired results, depending on the depth and density of the pigment.
Keep in mind that results can vary. Factors like the colour and type of ink, how deep the tattoo is, and your skin type can play a role in the outcome.
We offer this method at Tanya Beauty Care when we work with clients who want to correct or remove cosmetic brow tattoos. We’ll explore exactly how it works in a moment.
Saline Solution Removal
Another eyebrow microblading safety removal method is the use of a saline solution. The saline solution works by drawing the tattoo pigment to the skin's surface.
The body's natural healing process plays a key role here; the salt/saline solution breaks up the ink, which the skin then pushes out as it heals.
Over the next few days, the treated area will form a scab. As the scab falls off, it takes with it some of the unwanted pigment.
Glycolic Acid
Some specialists use glycolic acid peels to fade unwanted eyebrow tattoos. This method involves applying the acid to the microbladed area, causing the upper layers of the skin to peel off, taking some pigment with it. It's essential to be cautious with this method as it can be harsh on the skin.
How Does Laser Tattoo Removal Work?
When it comes to eyebrow microblading removal, laser tattoo removal is a trusted solution. It uses laser energy to target and break down the ink particles under your skin, allowing your body to naturally eliminate them.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we use a sophisticated Q-switched laser. This isn't just any laser – it emits light at exact wavelengths in rapid, high-energy bursts. The ink from your tattoo absorbs this light, causing an acoustic shockwave.
This shockwave does the magic, breaking the pigment particles into much smaller fragments, which your body can then naturally remove. Over several treatments, the tattoo begins to fade, and with a bit of patience, it'll disappear.
Now, about the laser pulse – it's a bit like interval training at the gym. Instead of one continuous laser beam, multiple quick and intense laser pulses are used on the tattoo. This gives time for the heat from the burst ink to cool down before the next pulse. It makes the process more bearable and reduces the risk of scarring.
The benefit of the Q-switched laser? It doesn’t have a thermal component, which means your hair follicles won't get damaged. We've heard stories of other treatments that unintentionally affect brow hair during the removal process, but you won't face that issue here.

Eyebrow Microblading Safety Removal: Considerations and Potential Risks
When it comes to eyebrow microblading removal, safety should be yours, and your removal technicians, top priority.
After all, we're talking about a procedure that affects the appearance of your face, and you don’t want to end up with results that you're unhappy with (again!).
But just like any cosmetic or medical procedure, there are potential risks associated with laser tattoo removal. Here's a breakdown of the main concerns, and more importantly, how a reputable professional can help minimise those risks.
Scarring
Potential Issue: One of the significant concerns with any kind of laser treatment is the risk of scarring. When the laser is too intense or applied incorrectly, it can damage the surrounding skin tissue leading to scars.
Safety Measures: A skilled technician will always ensure they use the correct laser settings, suitable for your skin type and the ink depth. They will also provide you with aftercare instructions to prevent scarring during the healing process.
Hyperpigmentation and Hypopigmentation
Potential Issue: Sometimes, the laser can cause the skin to either darken (hyperpigmentation) or lighten (hypopigmentation) in the treated area.
Safety Measures: A reputable consultant will conduct a patch test to determine the best laser setting for your skin, reducing the risk of these pigmentary changes.
Infection
Potential Issue: The laser procedure can leave the skin vulnerable to infections, especially if the treated area isn't kept clean.
Safety Measures: Any established clinic will operate in a sterile environment and give you clear post-treatment care instructions, including how to clean the area and signs of potential infections to watch out for.
Incomplete Removal
Potential Issue: Sometimes, not all of the ink can be removed. This could be due to the type or colour of the ink, or how deeply it was applied.
Safety Measures: A seasoned eyebrow microblading removal consultant will manage your expectations from the start, providing an honest assessment of what results you can expect.
Eye Injury
Potential Issue: Since we're discussing eyebrow treatments, there's a risk associated with lasers coming into contact with your eyes.
Safety Measures: Always ensure that the clinic provides you with protective eyewear during the procedure. This isn't optional—it's a must!
Allergic Reactions
Potential Issue: The laser can cause the ink to fragment and release substances that might trigger an allergic reaction.
Safety Measures: If you have known allergies or have experienced allergic reactions to the ink or other substances in the past, inform your consultant. They might adjust the treatment or take special precautions.
Safety Tips: Preparing for Your Laser Tattoo Removal
- Reduce sun exposure: That means avoiding tans or sunburns. Every time you step outside, remember to apply a good SPF.
- Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water leading up to your treatment. Not only is it good for your health, but it'll also improve circulation, aiding in the removal process.
- Stop smoking: Consider taking a break from smoking, if you do. Smoking can slow down the healing process.
- Don’t irritate the skin: Before the treatment, steer clear of anything that might irritate your skin around the brow area. That means no shaving, waxing, or exfoliating.
- Be mindful of medication: Aspirin or anti-inflammatory medications can increase bleeding. It's a good idea to avoid them before your treatment.
Post-Treatment Care for Stellar Results and Safety
- Aftercare cream: You'll be provided with a special cream to reduce the risk of infection and promote healing. Stick to the recommended application guidelines.
- Hands off: The treated area might itch or tempt you, but try not to touch it for at least 3 days after the procedure.
- Keeping it dry: Aim to avoid direct exposure to water on the treated brow for the first 3 days. This will help to prevent any potential infections.
- Sleeping position: Resting on your back ensures you won't accidentally rub the treated area against the pillow.
- Avoiding make-up: Stay away from applying makeup or skincare to your brows for the initial days after the treatment. It's all about giving your skin the best environment to heal.
- Patience is key: Remember, after each laser session, it's common for the skin to appear slightly discoloured or lighter. This is temporary. Give your skin the time it needs to heal and the ink particles time to be eliminated.

What is the difference between eyebrow tattooing vs. microblading? Everything you need to know
Looking for a brow boost? We’ll step you through the key things to know about eyebrow tattooing and microblading, helping you decide which is the right choice for you!
Eyebrow Tattooing vs. Microblading - A Quick Comparison
Eyebrow tattooing is a more traditional tattooing process that uses a machine to implant permanent ink into the dermis, the second layer of the skin. This results in a more solid, filled-in look for the eyebrows.
Microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that uses a manual tool to create individual hair-like strokes in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. This creates a more natural-looking finish that mimics natural eyebrow hair.
We'll dive deep into each method to give you all the details you need and important factors to consider.
What is Eyebrow Tattooing? An Overview
Eyebrow tattooing is a permanent makeup technique where a tattoo machine deposits pigment deep into the skin to create or enhance the shape of eyebrows.
The process is like getting a traditional tattoo, and the method gives brows a more defined, solid appearance.
Even though today's techniques are a bit different from old-school ones, many people still use the term "eyebrow tattooing" to talk about the newer methods.
- Longevity: Eyebrow tattoos are known for their durability due to the depth of pigment insertion. This means they're essentially permanent. However, some fading can occur over the years, leading to potential touch-ups.
- Appearance: Traditional eyebrow tattoos are more uniform, giving brows an even and solid hue. This might contrast with modern techniques that aim for a natural, hair-like finish.
- Procedure: The technique involves a tattoo machine introducing pigment into the skin's dermal layer, ensuring its long-term presence.
Things to Know about Eyebrow Tattooing
Technique (machine)
Eyebrow tattooing relies on a machine similar to those used in traditional body tattooing.
This machine has a needle oscillating rapidly to deposit ink deep into the skin's layers and can be adjusted to control the depth, speed, and power of the needle's movement.
Pros:
- Consistent ink deposit.
- Can cover larger areas more quickly.
- Suitable for creating a denser, more defined brow look.
Cons:
- Can be louder during the procedure.
- Might feel more invasive to some clients.
- Less able to achieve the fine, hair-like strokes compared to microblading, leading to less customisation in the final look.
Results
A bolder, more structured shape than microblading
Eyebrow tattooing provides a fuller appearance to the brows by implanting pigment more deeply into the skin, ensuring a longer-lasting and less fade-prone result.
This technique generally results in:
Defined look: The brows are distinctly outlined, giving them a clear shape.
Uniform appearance: The colour fills in the brow area consistently, providing a continuous shade throughout.
Bold presentation: The technique makes the brows stand out more prominently against the skin.
Full coverage: Good for those with sparse brows as it offers comprehensive pigment distribution.
Structured finish: The brows typically appear more structured and less feathery than natural brows.
Though available in various shades, eyebrow tattoos are commonly done in black or brown, and it's crucial to select a colour that aligns well with one's natural hair and skin tone.
Depth of ink placement in the skin
Deeper than microblading
For eyebrow tattoos, the colour goes deep into the skin, into the dermis layer. This means the colour can stay longer and look bolder or more solid.
Type of ink
Ink is long lasting but with less customisation than microblading
Traditional eyebrow tattooing uses ink, much like the ink used for body tattoos. This ink is usually in black or brown shades generally made up of compounds designed to last a very long time. However, they might change colour over time, with some shades, especially lighter ones, potentially turning a bluish or greenish hue as they fade.
Pros: Offers longevity and can be more resistant to fading from sun exposure.
Cons: Potential for colour change over time and might look less natural as it fades.
Longevity - 'permanent' but does fade in vibrancy
Lasts longer than microblading but colour may fade with blue / green hues.
As the eyebrow tattoo technique deposits the ink deep into your skin's dermis layer, eyebrow tattoos are considered permanent.
However, that doesn't mean they'll always stay looking fresh and new. Over the years, the colour can fade a bit and, as mentioned, could appear slightly bluish or greenish as they do. So, even though it's permanent, after several years, you might want a touch-up to keep the colour vibrant.
Pain level
Can be more painful than microblading.
Eyebrow tattoos are implanted deeper into the skin, into the dermis, while microblading is done in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. The dermis is more sensitive than the epidermis, so it is more likely to hurt when it is punctured.
The machine used for eyebrow tattooing is more powerful than the tool used for microblading and can create deeper punctures, which can be more painful.

What is Microblading? An Overview
Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup that uses a special tool with really fine needles. Unlike some techniques that give a solid brow, microblading is all about creating natural-looking, hair-like strokes.
- Longevity: Think of microblading as a longer-term solution but not forever. Typically, the results last up to 2 years. But remember, things like your skin type, how you live, and how you care for it afterwards can make a difference in how long it lasts.
- Appearance: Instead of that one-size-fits-all brow look, microblading aims for realism. Those hair-like strokes blend in seamlessly, filling gaps and just generally making brows look fuller and more natural.
- Procedure: The cosmetic tattoo artist doing the microblading makes tiny, precise little cuts in the skin to add the pigment. It's meticulous work!
- Ideal for: Anyone looking for a brow boost. It's a game-changer, especially if your brows are on the thinner side or a bit patchy.
Things to Know About Microblading
Technique (manual tool)
Microblading makes use of a specialised manual tool that resembles a sleek, slim pen.
At the tip of this instrument are ultra-fine needles, arranged in a linear fashion to mimic a blade. The tool, guided with precision and artistry by the technician, is used to create minute scratches on the skin's surface.
As these scratches are made, pigment is simultaneously deposited, resulting in delicate, hair-like strokes that blend seamlessly with natural eyebrows for a fuller, yet realistic appearance.
Pros: Creates a natural and realistic brow appearance. Allows for high customisation based on individual brow shapes and preferences. Less noise and vibration during the procedure.
Cons: Requires more frequent touch-ups compared to eyebrow tattooing. Might be less suitable for those with oily skin. Takes a bit longer due to the manual precision involved.
Results
A natural, hair-stroke finish compared to the bolder look of an eyebrow tattoo.
Microblading offers the brows a soft, feathery finish by delicately adding pigment in thin strokes, mimicking real hairs.
This technique typically leads to:
Natural look: The strokes blend seamlessly with existing hairs.
Customisable: The colour and thickness of each stroke can vary, adding depth and dimension.
Soft presentation: The technique offers a subtle enhancement rather than a stark change.
Fill-in capability: Ideal for filling in gaps or sparse areas without overwhelming the natural brow. Handcrafted finish: Each stroke is manually drawn, ensuring uniqueness in every brow.
While various shades are available, it's essential to work with the technician to select the best hue that complements natural hair and skin tone.
Depth of pigment placement in the skin
Upper layer only - not as deep as an eyebrow tattoo
For microblading, the pigment is carefully introduced into the skin's upper layer, called the epidermis. This shallow placement ensures a more natural appearance but may fade quicker over time.
Type of pigment
Pigment fades naturally but may require more frequent touch-ups.
Microblading uses a special semi-permanent pigment designed for facial features. These pigments are intended to fade over time and generally do so in a more natural hue without any bluish or greenish tints.
Pros: Offers a natural fade and maintains its original colour better than ink.
Cons: It doesn't last as long as traditional tattoo ink and touch ups are recommended to keep the brows looking their best.
Longevity - Up to 2 years
Not as long-lasting as eyebrow tattoos but maintains a more consistent colour.
Due to its placement in the skin's outermost layer, microblading tends to fade more rapidly.
Typically, the results last between 18 to 24 months, depending on factors like skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. However, the colour remains more consistent over time without the bluish or greenish hue sometimes seen in eyebrow tattoos.
Pain level
Generally considered less painful than eyebrow tattooing.
Microblading, which targets the skin's outer layer, the epidermis, tends to be less painful than deeper treatments. The manual tool makes finer punctures, which many find less uncomfortable than the machine-driven method of eyebrow tattooing. However, pain tolerance varies among individuals.

Scalp Micropigmentation - The Ultimate Guide
Feeling self-conscious about hair loss or thinning? Reclaim your confidence with scalp micropigmentation. This cosmetic treatment is designed to mimic the look of thicker hair, resulting in a natural, restored appearance. Your path to renewed confidence starts here!
What is scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-invasive treatment for anyone experiencing hair loss. This innovative technique, often likened to a 'hair tattoo,' involves the application of tiny deposits of pigment into the scalp, creating the appearance of a natural-looking hairline and fuller hair.
Scalp micropigmentation for thinning hair and baldness
At Tanya Beauty Care our clients to come us for scalp micropigmentation with hair concerns including:
- Pattern baldness: Micropigmentation on scalp can create the illusion of a fuller head of hair, helping to disguise areas of hair loss.
- Thinning hair: With SMP, you can increase the appearance of density in the thin patches. Scalp micropigmentation with hair loss is a true game-changer!
- Receding hairline: SMP can redefine and strengthen your hairline, giving you a more youthful appearance.
- Scars on the scalp: SMP can help camouflage scars caused by accidents or surgery so you don't feel self-conscious about their appearance.

Shape, position, and style of your hairline
Your SPM technician will take the position, shape, and style of your hairline into consideration to create a natural looking result. Let's take a closer look at these:
Position of Your Hairline
- The starting point of your hairline plays a vital role in ensuring a natural outcome with SMP. It's often best to stick to your original hairline position before it began to recede.
- You may reference older photographs to identify this position. Be wary of lowering your hairline too much as it might look out of place.
- Clients in their late 40s might prefer a slightly higher hairline for an age-appropriate look, taking into account factors like a widow's peak.
Shape of Your Hairline
- The shape of your hairline significantly impacts your overall appearance. It should complement your facial structure and look in sync with the rest of your hair.
- While SMP allows flexibility to adjust your hairline shape, avoid extremes that might result in an unnatural look. A straight hairline might not suit everyone; whereas a well-rounded hairline gives a more natural appearance.
Style of Your Hairline
Choosing the right hairline style adds to the overall aesthetics of your SMP. Styles include:
- the broken or jagged hairline, which scatters pigments for a realistic effect.
- the lightweight hairline, providing a 'faded' look with light pigments.
- the edged-up hairline, creating clean, sharp lines, which may appeal more to younger clients and those with darker skin tones.

How does scalp micropigmentation work?
What is the scalp micropigmentation treatment process? SMP works by using fine needles to apply pigment into the scalp, mimicking the appearance of hair follicles.
Your tattoo artist carefully blends pigments to match your natural hair colour and skin tone. The pigment is applied to the scalp in a stippling pattern (tiny dots), replicating your natural hair growth.
- The dots should mimic the appearance of tiny hair follicles
- They should be distributed evenly across your scalp
- The pattern should mirror your natural hair growth
- They should integrate seamlessly with your existing hair
When done well, the result is a realistic, natural-looking hairline and the appearance of fuller hair.
Step-by-step process
Let's step you through what you can expect when getting scalp micropigmentation at Tanya Beauty Care:
Step 1: Personal consultation
Your journey starts with a personal consultation with your scalp tattoo specialist. They'll work closely with you to determine the best approach for how you want the final result to look.
Step 2: Colour matching
Next, your scalp specialist will custom blend a colour to perfectly match your skin tone and hair colour. We use high quality, vegan microblading pigments to achieve a colour that seamlessly matches your skin tone and existing hair.
Our pigments ensure superior colour retention and make the application process of micropigmentation on the scalp precise and easy. Allowing us to create stunning, natural-looking results that'll leave you feeling confident.
Step 3: Pigment is applied
Now it's time for the magic to happen! Your specialist will use a micro-needle to deposit tiny dots of pigment into the outer layer of your scalp skin, known as the epidermis.
These tiny dots mimic the appearance of hair follicles, giving the illusion of a fuller head of hair. The technique requires a steady hand, artistic eye, and specialised equipment to ensure the dots and spacing between them are natural.
Does scalp micropigmentation hurt? The process is relatively pain-free but a numbing solution can be applied to keep you comfortable if needed.
Scalp micropigmentation cost
Are you wondering about the cost of scalp micropigmentation? The scalp micropigmentation cost in Australia can vary depending on various factors, including the degree of hair loss and the area of coverage needed.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we specialise in SMP procedures and treatment costs range from $500-$7000 (which typically involves 2-3 sessions). Before providing a quote, we ask you to send a photo so we can estimate your scalp micropigmentation price based on what you need and the desired outcome you are looking for.
Scalp micropigmentation before and after photos
When deciding on a cosmetic treatment and choosing between technicians, it's always helpful to check out before and after pictures and scrutinise a technician's reviews.
SMP isn't a procedure you want to leave to a novice- you could end up with poorly placed and unnatural-looking tattoo dots.
We invite you to review Tanya Beauty Care scalp micropigmentation before and afters to see for yourself the impressive and natural-looking transformation our expert technicians have achieved with SMP.
Potential side effects of scalp micropigmentation
When you're in the hands of a seasoned professional, micropigmentation on the scalp is generally safe, but like any cosmetic procedure, there is a chance of side effects.
- Slight Redness or Swelling: This is pretty common and usually subsides within a few days.
- Allergic reaction: In rare cases, some people may be allergic to the pigment used.
- Infection: Also rare, but possible if the procedure is not performed under sanitary conditions.
To reduce the chance of experiencing side effects of scalp micropigmentation, choosing a certified and experienced practitioner is important.
Scalp micropigmentation aftercare
Proper aftercare is crucial to ensure your treatment's best results and longevity. Here's what to expect:
Immediately Post-Procedure
- You can immediately return to your normal activities; there is no required downtime.
- Continue to take any medication as prescribed and drink plenty of water.
4-5 Days Post-Session
- Lightly dab the area with a wet cloth to clean.
- You can wear a loose hat and sleep in any position.
- Avoid intense exercise/heavy sweating, scrubbing/shampooing the area, shaving over the treated area, long-term sunlight exposure, and touching with hands.
5+ Days Post-Session
- You can carefully shave or cut your hair.
- Lightly rinse with soap and water.
- Apply a fragrance-free moisturiser if required.
- Avoid scratching your scalp and picking at any scabbing.
- Do not use any exfoliating shampoos, self-tanners, or other skin irritants.
10+ Days Post-Session:
- You can return to your normal routine, but wash your head and cut your hair before returning for a follow-up session.
- Avoid chlorinated pools, saunas, steam rooms, and tanning beds for 28 days post-final session.
Following these guidelines will help you get the best possible results from your scalp micropigmentation treatment.
How long does scalp micropigmentation last?
Scalp micropigmentation is a semi-permanent treatment, and the results can last for several years without the need for significant upkeep.
This treatment can last up to 4-6 years making it a great long-term solution for hair loss. We recommend clients return for a refresh every 2-3 years to maintain the colour. Remember that lifestyle and skin type can affect the longevity of the treatment.
How long does scalp micropigmentation take?
The duration of the SMP procedure will depend on the size of the area being treated. Generally, each session can last 2-3 hours, and you will need 2-3 sessions spaced a week apart to complete the treatment.
There are a few reasons for staggering the treatment sessions:
Layering: The way the pigment is layered on the scalp is one of the keys to achieving a natural-looking result. During each session, your SMP specialist will apply tiny dots of pigment, gradually building up the density and depth of colour. This layering method allows for a more realistic look that replicates the natural appearance of hair follicles.
Healing time: The skin on your scalp needs time to heal between sessions. This break allows any minor swelling or redness to subside and allows your skin to recover. Doing this, your specialist can better assess the results of the previous session and make precise adjustments in the next one.
Refinement: Multiple sessions allow for refinement; your specialist can adjust the pigment density and placement based on how your skin retains the pigment and your feedback on the appearance. This way, the final result is everything you hoped it would be!
Scalp micropigmentation offers a breakthrough solution to hair loss, providing a sense of confidence if you're struggling with thinning hair or baldness.

Eyeliner Tattoo - The Ultimate Guide
Eyeliner tattoos are a stunning, long-lasting way to flawlessly enhance your eyes without applying makeup every day. Say goodbye to smudged or uneven eyeliner! Our guide takes you through all the details about eyeliner tattoos.
What is tattoo eyeliner?
Also known as permanent eyeliner tattoos or cosmetic tattoo eyeliner, this technique uses micropigmentation to insert tiny pigment particles into the dermis, the second layer of the skin.
The result closely resembles traditional eyeliner makeup, giving your eyes a beautiful, defined look.
Different types of tattoo eyeliner
Let’s take a look at the different types of cosmetic tattoo eyeliner.
Top eyeliner tattoo
A fine or bold line applied along the top lash line. Choosing this style is ideal if you’re after a subtle and natural-looking enhancement to your eyes. By just focusing on the top lash line, you can achieve subtle definition but maintain an understated appearance.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we offer an ‘invisible’ top eyeliner tattoo which is even more subtle than the traditional top liner.
Bottom eyeliner tattoo
This focuses on placing pigment along the lower lash line to subtly enhance the definition of the eye. You can also opt for the complete package; a cosmetic eyeliner tattoo on the bottom and top lash line for long-lasting definition of the entire eye area.
Winged eyeliner tattoo
This creates a line that extends or "wings" out past the outer corner of the eye, giving a captivating "cat eye" effect and adding an almond shape to the eyes. This is a more dramatic and defined look than the top eyeliner tattoo, a striking way to emphasise the shape of the eye.

Semi permanent eyeliner vs permanent eyeliner tattoo
The main difference between permanent eyeliner tattoo and semi-permanent eyeliner tattoo is in the application method and how the ink is deposited into the skin —whether it is done using a machine or by hand.
Permanent makeup involves implanting pigment into the deeper dermal layer of the skin, using a digital machine.
On the other hand, semi-permanent makeup applies pigment to the superficial layer of the skin, using manual application technique.
Both approaches give you long-lasting results, but the difference lies in the depth and application method used.
How much does tattoo eyeliner cost?
How much your eyeliner tattoo cost will be depends on the style you choose and the expertise of the artist.
At Tanya Beauty Care, eyeliner tattoo cost will range from $599 - $1300 depending on what procedure you choose. If you come to us to refresh an existing eyeliner tattoo, the cost will range from $350 - $699.
You can view our eyeliner tattoo price list here.
Eyeliner tattoo before and after
The shape and definition of your eyes will be enhanced, either subtle or dramatically, after an eyeliner tattoo procedure. Before the treatment, the eyes might look less defined, while after the treatment, they will have a more defined appearance.

Looking through a portfolio of tattoo eyeliner before and after photos from an artist or salon you’re considering is a must before making your decision.
We’re proud to share Tanya Beauty Care’s gallery of eyeliner tattoo before and after photos; we’ve achieved gorgeous results for our clients!
How long does eyeliner tattoo last?
A skillfully applied eyeliner tattoo can last up to 3 years and we recommend clients return to us for a refresh to maintain the colour and sharpness of the tattoo.
How long eyeliner tattoos last will depend on factors like skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, and your skincare routine. Cosmetic tattoos on oily skin types tend to fade quicker than other skin types.
Avoid spending hours in the sun and be vigilant about wearing sunglasses as UV exposure fades the pigment. The type of skincare you use can impact the longevity of your eyeliner tattoo too; skip the harsh makeup removers and avoid tugging around your eyes when cleansing your face.
Eyeliner tattoo aftercare
Let’s talk about the things you need to help your fresh tattoo heal properly and to prevent any infections.
Straight after the procedure
You may experience some slight swelling which is totally normal. You can apply an ice pack to soothe the area but just be mindful to move it around so you don’t get frostbite!
If you wear contact lenses, we advise you to wear glasses or arrange transport home after the procedure. Don’t replace your contacts for at least two hours.
Eyeliner tattoo aftercare: Days 1 - 14
- Apply a thin layer of aftercare ointment daily for the next 7 days.
- Use a warm, damp cotton pad to gently wipe the area.
- Avoid using contact lenses, eye makeup, or mascara for 7 days after the procedure. It's best to purchase new mascara before using it again, as used makeup can contain bacteria.
- Don’t use lash-enhancing products or fake lashes for 14 days after the procedure.
- Avoid swimming in pools for 5 days afterwards; any bacteria and chemicals in the water might cause irritation.
- Don’t go swimming in the ocean for 14 days post-procedure, as the salt water can pull out the pigment.
The essential aftercare for eyeliner tattoos is key to a speedy healing process and a long-lasting, stunning result.
How long after eyeliner tattoo can I wear makeup?
After getting an eyeliner tattoo, you need to allow the tattooed area to heal completely before applying makeup. Here's a general guideline on when you can wear makeup after an eyeliner tattoo:
- We recommend waiting at least 1 week before wearing makeup on the tattooed area. This allows the skin to heal and reduces the risk of infection or irritation.
- After a week, if healing is on track, you can apply makeup, including eyeliner, on and around the tattooed area.
Healing time may vary from person to person, 1 week is a guideline. Pay attention to how the tattooed area is responding and hold off applying makeup if healing seems to be taking a bit longer.
How long does it take for eyeliner tattoo to heal?
If you’re wondering how long it takes for eyeliner tattoo to heal, here's what you can expect during the healing process of your eyeliner tattoo:
Day 1: You may experience swelling, tightness, and tenderness when blinking. It will look like you've been crying, and the tattooed area may appear heavy with some clear discharge.
Day 2: Swelling may still be present, and the tattooed area may have a heavy makeup look with some particles of pigment around it. It will feel tender, and a slight crust may have formed.
Day 3: Swelling should reduce significantly, and the skin may feel tight. The pigment will have a slight crust and may start to lift away from the skin.
Day 4: The surface pigment begins to exfoliate, and the skin beneath may start to flake off. It's important not to pick at it.
Day 5: Blinking and eye movements will feel less tender. Applying ointment usually removes any excess pigment. The colour may have an ashy grey appearance until a second exfoliation occurs in the following days, clarifying the true colour.
Day 6: The eyeliner will appear softer and shrink in size, revealing a thinner appearance.
Day 7: Still a soft ashy appearance, but the skin will be fully healed and exfoliated.
Day 8-30: Full healing will take place, and the colour will mature and clarify during this time.
How long after eyeliner tattoo can I get eyelash extensions?
We recommend waiting at least 2 weeks after your eyeliner tattoo before getting eyelash extensions. This gives the tattoo enough time to settle in and heal so your skin recovers beautifully.
When you're ready to rock those eyelash extensions, be sure to let your lash technician know about your recent eyeliner tattoo. They'll take extra care and work around the tattooed area for the best results.
Does eyeliner tattoo hurt?
One of the most common questions clients have about this procedure is “Does eyeliner tattoo hurt?”
Most clients experience only minimal discomfort, but if you have a low pain threshold you might find it more uncomfortable.
Your technician will apply a topical numbing cream to the area before starting the procedure to minimise any pain.
Eyeliner tattoo removal
Unhappy with your eyeliner tattoo or want to address any imperfections that have emerged over time? Eyeliner tattoo removal is an option. It’s a super delicate process because of the proximity to the eyes and should only be done by a highly experienced professional.
How to remove tattoo eyeliner
Laser removal is the most common approach to take, a laser penetrates the skin to slowly fade the pigment. During the procedure, a laser beam is carefully directed onto your skin, specifically targeting the pigments of the permanent makeup (PMU).
The laser uses light energy to break down the pigment into tiny particles. These fragments are then carried away by the body's white blood cells, effectively extracting the pigments from within. Eyeliner tattoo removal usually requires multiple sessions for complete removal.
With each session of laser treatment, more and more pigment molecules are broken down, leading to a gradual fading of the tattoo. It's important to note that the process must be done gradually to ensure the safety of your skin and avoid damage.

What are the pros and cons of eyebrow tattooing? Important factors to consider
Tired of the daily routine with eyebrow pencils and powders? Eyebrow tattooing – or microblading – may sound like a dream come true. But, while it can be a game-changer (Hello faster morning routine and goodbye patchy brows!), there are pros and cons to consider. Read this before taking the leap.
Pros and cons of eyebrow tattooing
Pros
Convenience
For starters, you can say goodbye to filling in your brows every morning by applying makeup. This is a definite pro for those with hectic schedules. Less time spent getting ready each day means more time enjoying your coffee!
Long-lasting results
Depending on the individual and care taken, brow tattoos can last from 1-3 years. Semi-permanent in nature, touch-ups are generally required to keep your microbladed brows looking fresh.
Sweat-proof and smudge-proof
Perfect if you're a regular in the gym or sweat a lot, or you live in humid climates where applying makeup to the brow area in the morning means a smeared mess by the afternoon.
No more worries about makeup smudging!
Natural appearance
When done correctly by a cosmetic tattoo artist, microblading can provide very natural-looking eyebrows, mimicking the appearance of hair strokes. The technique used to create hair-like strokes ensures a natural brow appearance that differs from the look of traditional tattoos.
Solution for eyebrow hair loss
For anyone who has lost eyebrow hair due to conditions like alopecia, chemotherapy, or over-plucking, brow tattoos offer a way to restore the appearance of sparse or thin eyebrows.
Uniform shape
You can achieve and maintain a symmetrical and consistent eyebrow look. With the expertise of a tattoo artist, the use of tattoo ink ensures a natural-looking and consistent brow, day after day.
Feeling confident
There's an undeniable confidence that comes with great brows.
Not only do they frame the face, enhancing its natural symmetry, but eyebrow tattooing helps you feel put-together, even on makeup-free days. When your eyebrows look impeccable, it's this small detail that makes a significant impact, allowing you to step out with confidence!

Cons
Risk of a mistake with semi-permanent results
Mistakes with the shape/colour can be long-lasting and require time and money to fix.
We've all seen those overly darkened caricature-like brows on social media that seem more comical than stylish.
The aesthetics of tattooed eyebrows depend on finding an experienced brow artist who understands facial symmetry and brow shapes best suited for individual faces.
Pain and discomfort
While pain varies from person to person, some people might find the procedure of getting feather touch brows or any other cosmetic tattoo uncomfortable, even with the application of numbing cream.
Risk of infection
As with any procedure breaking the skin, such as cosmetic tattoos, there's a risk of infection. This is especially the case if the salon or tattoo artists don't follow proper hygiene protocols.
Potential allergic reactions
Some people might have allergic reactions to the pigments used in brow tattoos or aftercare products. If you are allergic to certain pigments, or have skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis, it may be best to consult with a doctor beforehand.
Up front costs
The initial procedure for getting your eyebrows tattooed can be expensive compared to makeup. Touch-ups and maintenance for brow tattoos also come with their costs.
Fading and colour change
Over time, the pigment from cosmetic tattooing might fade or even change colour (e.g., turning a shade of blue or pink). Sun exposure, oily skin, and skincare products can affect the longevity and colour stability of the brow tattoo.
Requires maintenance
While cosmetic tattoos, like eyebrow tattoos, reduce the daily need for brow makeup application, they still require some maintenance. This includes touch-ups and specific aftercare, especially in the first weeks after the procedure.
Variability in skill level
The results of brow tattooing can vary widely depending on the technician's skill level. Repeat after us: “always do thorough research to find a reputable brow artist experienced in creating hair-like strokes for a natural look”.
Bad eyebrow tattoos vs. natural looking eyebrow tattoos
A big factor to consider is the potential difference between bad eyebrow tattoos and those that look like natural brows.
One look at the blocky, excessively dark brows on Instagram should tell you not all results are created equal! Bad eyebrow tattoos can result from various factors, an unskilled tattoo artist, poor equipment, or even an unfortunate mismatch between the tattoo ink and your natural skin tone.
In contrast, real-looking eyebrow tattoos are the epitome of skillful artistry combined with technological advancement.
Using high-quality pigments and modern techniques such as microblading can result in incredibly realistic brows that closely mimic your natural hair pattern and colour.
The aesthetics truly depend on finding the right artist who understands facial symmetry and brow shapes best suited for individual faces - so do your homework before trusting anyone with your eyebrows!

Are eyebrow tattoos safe?
Generally speaking, eyebrow tattoos are considered safe when performed by a trained and competent professional who adheres to strict sanitary protocols.
However, like any cosmetic procedure, there are certain risks and considerations to keep in mind.
Infections: The risk of infection is present if the equipment used is not sterile or if post-care instructions are not followed correctly. Ensuring that the technician uses single-use, disposable needles and tools is crucial.
Allergic reactions: Some people might be allergic to the pigments in eyebrow tattoos. A patch test before the procedure can help identify any potential allergic reactions.
Scarring: If the technician goes too deep or the skin is not handled properly, there's a possibility of scarring.
Bottom line on safety? If you have sparse brows and are hoping to achieve more natural brows, doing your homework before trusting anyone with getting your eyebrows tattooed is a must.
Do eyebrow tattoos hurt?
Let's address one of the first questions that pops into almost everyone's mind - do eyebrow tattoos hurt? Some compare it to a light scratching sensation, while others say it's slightly more intense than tweezing.
Overall, the pain level is not exactly a walk in the park, but definitely bearable for most people. Of course, everyone's pain tolerance varies, and it also depends on the skills and techniques used by the professional carrying out the process.
It's worth noting most technicians use a numbing cream before starting the process, which substantially reduces any discomfort you might feel, especially if you have sensitive skin.
Eyebrow tattoos before and after
Moving onto the results - that magical 'after' phase where you see your brand new brows!
The difference between bad eyebrow tattoos and real-looking ones is stark and largely depends on how skilled your technician is. Your brows should enhance your facial features without overpowering them.
We always recommend checking out an artist or salon's eyebrow tattoos before and after photos to see the results you can expect. At Tanya Beauty Care, we're proud of our gallery of eyebrow tattoo before and after photos. Take a look at the stunning results our skilled artists can achieve.

What are the different types of eyebrow tattooing and which is right for you?
Getting an eyebrow tattoo gives you brows that stay put no matter what—no smudging or wiping off. But if you're not ready to commit to a semi-permanent brow shape just yet, you could consider a temporary option. Let's look at the different types of eyebrow tattooing you can choose from - semi-permanent and temporary - to get your dream brows.
Different types of eyebrow tattoos
When it comes to eyebrow tattoos, you've got a range of semi-permanent techniques to enhance your eyebrows and bring out your features to choose from. Eyebrow tattoos are the go-to solution for defined brows without the daily fuss.

Cosmetic eyebrow tattoos
Cosmetic eyebrow tattoos use micro-pigmentation or 'cosmetic tattooing' techniques to create the illusion of fuller eyebrows.
3D eyebrow tattoos (microblading)
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo technique using a handheld tool with fine needles to create hair-like strokes that mimic your natural eyebrow hairs, whereas traditional brow tattooing uses a machine.
This procedure involves depositing pigment into the upper reticular part of the dermal layer of your skin using fine needles.
3D eyebrow microblading (also known as micro-feathering) typically uses a technique called "feathering" to create the illusion of depth and dimension in the eyebrows.
This technique involves creating multiple, overlapping hair-like strokes in different shades of pigment. The result is a more realistic and natural-looking brow which generally lasts from 6 to 18 months.
Powdered brow tattoo
Want that makeup-finished look for your brows? Say hello to the powdered eyebrow tattoo method.
Often referred to as ombre pixel misting or powder brows, this technique employs a unique tool to deliver a gradient, soft, and powdery effect.
Perfect for those who fancy a fuller brow aesthetic. Depending on your skin type and daily habits, these cosmetic eyebrow tattoos usually last up to 2 years.
Different types of temporary eyebrow tattoos
Not quite ready to commit to a semi-permanent brow tattoo? One of these temporary options might be for you instead.

Stick on eyebrow tattoos - transfer tattoos
Stick-on eyebrows are like temporary tattoos – they mimic the look of microbladed brows. Just press them onto clean skin with a damp cloth, peel, and voilà! Using water-soluble dyes and adhesives, they stay on your skin, and you've got brows that last up to five days.
Cardani eyebrow tattoos
Cardani eyebrows are another 'stick on' option. Made from real human hair, Cardani eyebrows are individually hand-placed on a skin-like, flexible gel backing, giving them a natural appearance.
Cardani eyebrows are designed specifically for those who have lost their eyebrow hair due to alopecia, trichotillomania, or other medical conditions.
That said, they can also be an option if you want to experiment with the shape or colour of your brows before going all in on other methods like 3D eyebrows or microblading.
Henna eyebrow tattoos
Henna is an age-old natural dye used for skin and hair colouring. It's a popular temporary alternative for those wanting fuller brows without the permanence of a brow tattoo.
However, they are quite short-lived, with Henna eye tattoos lasting only about 1-2 weeks. Longevity is influenced by the henna's quality, your skin type, and lifestyle habits. For example, if you have oily skin or are a regular at the gym or sauna sweating it out, your henna brows will fade quicker.
Best eyebrows for your face shape
Remember that getting perfect eyebrows isn't just about choosing between different types of eyebrow tattoos; it's also about identifying what works best for your face shape.
So whether you go for 3D, cosmetic, stick on or henna brow solutions - always keep your unique features in mind. The key is choosing a design that complements your bone structure.
Here's a quick guide for selecting the right brow shape based on your face shape:

Oval Face Shape
- General Characteristics: Forehead is slightly wider than the chin, with high cheekbones and a face length that is 1.5 times the width.
- Brow Tips: An oval face is often considered the most versatile and balanced shape, so a soft-angled eyebrow works best. It's neither too sharp nor too round, maintaining the harmonious proportions of an oval face.
Round Face Shape
- General Characteristics: Width and length of your face are nearly the same, and your cheeks are the widest part of the face.
- Brow Tips: Aim for a high, sharp arch to elongate the appearance of the face. This will help break up the roundness and give the illusion of a more oval shape.
Long (or Oblong) Face Shape
- General Characteristics: Your face length is the greatest dimension, while your forehead, cheeks, and jawline have similar widths.
- Brow Tips: A flat and somewhat horizontal brow works best, creating the illusion of a shorter face. Avoid high arches, as they might elongate the face even more.
Square Face Shape
- General Characteristics: Your jawline is prominent and square and your forehead, cheekbones, and jawline have similar widths.
- Brow Tips: Opt for softly rounded brows or a strong, angular brow. Go with rounded brows if you want to soften the jawline's appearance. For those embracing the squareness, an angular brow can be very striking and complementary.
Heart Face Shape
- General Characteristics: A wider forehead with high cheekbones and a pointed chin. It can sometimes come with a widow's peak.
- Brow Tips: A soft, rounded arch works best for heart-shaped faces. Avoid heavily drawn or overly angular brows, as these can make the chin appear even narrower.
Diamond Face Shape
- General Characteristics: Your face is very angular with the cheekbones as the widest part and a narrow forehead and jawline.
- Brow Tips: A curved brow shape will help soften the angles of the face and make the widest portion of the face look less wide.

How long do eyebrow tattoos last? Factors and timeline
“How long do eyebrow tattoos last?” is one of the most common questions we get from our clients. Here’s what you need to know about semi-permanent brow tattoos and how to keep them looking their best, for longer.
How Long Do Eyebrow Tattoos Last?
Depending on what type of brow you choose and how well they're taken care of, semi-permanent eyebrow tattoos can last anywhere from one to five years.
Permanent vs. Semi-Permanent Eyebrow Tattoos
Traditional tattoo (Permanent)
A traditional brow tattoo is done with a machine and is considered permanent. However, cosmetic tattooing has come a long way since brow tattooing began with this technique. Microblading and Ombré Pixel Misting give a much more natural look and allow for greater customisation in shape and density.
Microblading (Semi-permanent): Two years
Microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo done by hand rather than with a tattoo machine, like a traditional permanent tattoo. The artist uses a small blade to create natural-looking hair strokes, and the ink is deposited just under the skin's surface.
While this means the result doesn't last as long, microblading creates a more natural-looking eyebrow by creating a look that appears just like real hair.
Microblading typically lasts up to two years, depending on factors such as your skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. The delicate strokes may fade more quickly, especially on oilier skin, so touch-ups are generally needed more frequently.
If you want a very natural look, this method is excellent because it offers a gorgeous subtle enhancement to shape, fullness, and arch. However, microblading does require more frequent maintenance to keep the look fresh.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we use the microblading technique in our salon to create various eye brow styles, including Micro-feather Brows and our TBC Signature Combination brows.

Ombré Pixel Misting (Semi-permanent): Up to five years
Ombré Pixel Misting, also known as ombre powder brows, gives a soft powdered appearance similar to makeup. This technique uses a machine to insert pigment, and Powder Brows usually last longer than microbladed brows - up to five years.
The technique results in a more densely packed pigment, which typically fades more slowly than the delicate strokes of microblading.
If you want a more defined, makeup-like appearance requiring less frequent touch-ups, Powder Brow may be your choice. We usually recommend it if you have oilier skin or are very active with exercise and sweat a lot, as the pigment tends to retain better.
Healing Process of Eyebrow Tattoos
Whether you choose microblading or Ombré Pixel Misting, the healing process of eyebrow tattoos plays a key role in how long they’ll last. During the initial phase, proper care is needed to avoid scabbing and loss of pigment.
- Days 1-2: Brows will appear darker and more defined.
- Days 3-4: The area may feel itchy as the healing begins.
- Days 5-7: The brows may lighten and appear patchy.
- Weeks 2-4: The brows will return to their normal colour, with a softer and more natural appearance.
- Week 5 onwards: The final touch-up session should be scheduled if necessary.
- One to two months: The complete healing process, with the tattooed area settling into its final appearance.
Factors That Affect Eyebrows Tattoos Longevity
Several things can impact exactly how long your eyebrow tattoo will last. Understanding the factors that affect eyebrow tattoos longevity can help you keep your brows looking their best for as long as possible.
Your skin type: Oily or mature skin
Oily skin may cause the pigment to blur or fade more quickly, as the excess oil can break down the ink.
Mature skin might be more delicate and also retain pigment less effectively. Proper aftercare and touch-ups may be necessary to maintain the look.
How much time you spend in the sun
The sun causes the pigment in eyebrow tattoos to fade quicker. UV rays break down the ink particles, leading to premature fading. Wearing a hat or using SPF on the brows can slow fading.
Your lifestyle
Smoking can affect blood flow to the skin, potentially causing tattoos to fade faster - you can take this as your sign to quit! Swimming frequently in chlorinated pools can also affect longevity, as chlorine can bleach the ink.
The skincare products you use
Ingredients like retinoids and exfoliating acids accelerate skin cell turnover, leading to quicker pigment fading, so it is recommended to avoid skincare products containing these ingredients.
The skill of your brow artist
An expert cosmetic tattoo artist will know how to work with different skin types and conditions to ensure the pigment is inserted at the correct depth and consistency. Choosing a highly skilled professional ensures that you receive a high-quality result that lasts.

Best Aftercare for Eyebrow Tattoos
As they heal, make sure you prioritise the best aftercare for eyebrow tattoos. This will help everything go smoothly at each stage and maximise the longevity of your brows.
Avoid makeup and face creams around the brows for at least two weeks: Makeup and certain skincare creams may contain ingredients that can interfere with healing. Skip these steps in your routine to help the pigment settle properly into the skin and allow for the intended colour retention.
Don't get your sweat on for one week: Exposure to steam, saunas, or heavy sweating from exercise can open the pores and may cause the pigment to blur or fade prematurely.
Do not pick, scratch, or rub the brows: The brows may feel itchy while they heal. Picking, scratching, or rubbing can cause scarring, uneven healing, and loss of pigment. Refrain from picking so the final result is smooth and even.
Use a clean pillowcase to prevent infection: Your freshly tattooed eyebrows are more susceptible to infection. Using a clean pillowcase minimises exposure to bacteria and other potential irritants, reducing the risk of complications.
No facials, botox, or chemical treatments for four weeks: These treatments can irritate the newly tattooed skin or affect the pigment. Waiting at least four weeks ensures that your eyebrow tattoos have healed enough and are not at risk of being damaged by other cosmetic treatments.
Whether you're considering microblading or Ombré Pixel Misting, knowing the factors that affect their longevity, healing process, and proper aftercare will help you maintain fresh, beautiful-looking brows for longer.

How much does eyebrow feathering cost?
Eyebrow feathering is the answer to gorgeous, natural looking brows without daily fuss. But what's the price tag? Dive in as we break down the eyebrow feathering cost and see if it's a good fit for you.
What is Eyebrow Feathering?
Eyebrow feathering, also known as feather tattoo eyebrows, microfeather brows or feather touch eyebrows, offers a way to sport natural, full, and feathery eyebrows round-the-clock.
Unlike the traditional eyebrow tattoo treatments, which can sometimes appear overly harsh or unnatural, eyebrow feathering focuses on crafting hair-like strokes that mimic real eyebrow hairs, guaranteeing a natural-looking result.
Say goodbye to the daily routine of pencilling your eyebrows and embrace a morning where your brows are already perfect.
Eyebrow Feathering Cost
At Tanya Beauty Care, our eyebrow feathering price is $1200. This price not only includes the initial procedure but also a complimentary touch-up within 6 to 12 weeks of the initial session.
The touch-up is a crucial part of the eyebrow feathering process for several reasons:
- After the initial procedure, the skin undergoes a healing process. During this time, some parts of the eyebrow might not retain the pigment as well as others. The touch-up ensures that any unevenness or gaps are addressed, providing a more uniform and polished look.
- Everyone's skin reacts differently to the procedure. Some might experience a lighter fading of the pigment, while for others, it might be more pronounced. The touch-up session allows the technician to reinforce the pigment, ensuring longevity and vibrancy.
- The touch-up appointment provides an opportunity to refine the eyebrows based on how they have healed and settled. Any adjustments to shape, thickness, or colour can be made during this time.
- We want each of our clients to be totally satisfied and in love with their eyebrows! The touch-up session is an opportunity to address any concerns or preferences the client might have after living with their new brows for a few weeks.
By including a touch-up within the price, we ensure that our clients receive the best possible results and are pleased with their new, beautifully feathered brows.
Factors that affect eyebrow feathering cost
Skill of the Artist
Unsurprisingly, the expertise of the artist influences the eyebrow feathering cost.
Like many other professions, mastery in cosmetic procedures is often reflected in the pricing.
Eyebrow feathering is a procedure that demands precision and expertise; mistakes or subpar work can have lasting consequences for your appearance and confidence.
We always advise prioritising skill and experience over seeking the lowest price. At Tanya Beauty Care, our artists are not only highly skilled but undergo continuous training to stay updated with the latest techniques and trends in the industry.
Type of Pigment Used
The quality and type of pigment used can affect the cost. High-quality pigments ensure vibrant, long-lasting colours and are usually hypoallergenic, reducing the chances of adverse reactions.
These pigments might be priced higher, but they offer more value in the long run. At Tanya Beauty Care, we don't compromise on quality.
We use only the highest quality pigments, ensuring fresh, vibrant colours while keeping the safety and comfort of our clients in mind.
Follow-up Sessions
The inclusion of touch-up sessions in the initial price can affect the total eyebrow feathering cost.
Touch-ups are vital for perfecting the look after the initial healing phase and addressing any pigment unevenness or gaps that may have appeared.
While some salons might charge separately for these sessions, others, like Tanya Beauty Care, believe in offering comprehensive services. Our initial cost includes a touch-up session, underscoring our commitment to ensuring our clients receive the best possible results without any hidden fees.
Checking Reviews: You Get What You Pay For
You want to make sure you're getting gorgeous results for your investment; brows you truly love. This is where checking out reviews comes in super handy.
Real experiences: Read firsthand accounts from those who've been to the salon. They can clue you in on the artist's skill, how comfortable the procedure felt, hygiene standards, and of course - if they loved their new brows!
Consistency in quality: Loads of glowing reviews? That's a sign of consistently fab service. Remember, patterns in feedback give you the real scoop on what to expect.
Addressing concerns: It's also a good sign to see how a salon handles any hiccups. Quick, caring responses? That's a salon that's got your back.
As a leader in cosmetic eyebrow tattoo procedures, like eyebrow feathering, in Sydney, our glowing track record is evident in our 300+ 5-star Google reviews and the impressive transformations showcased in our before and after photos.
Our reviews shine a light on our commitment to making sure every client leaves with a smile (and stunning brows!)

Is Eyebrow Feathering Price Worth It?
The initial eyebrow feathering cost might seem like quite an investment. However, when you consider the benefits, you can see how it can be a worthy spend.
Here's a breakdown of the advantages:
Longevity
Unlike regular eyebrow tinting or filling with makeup, eyebrow feathering offers semi-permanent results. This means you can enjoy beautifully defined brows for months, without the need for daily maintenance and makeup application.
Natural Appearance
One of the biggest benefits of eyebrow feathering is its ability to create brows that look incredibly natural. The technique involves creating hair-like strokes that blend seamlessly with existing brow hairs.
Time Savings
Think about all the time spent over months or years perfecting your brows with makeup. Eyebrow feathering eliminates this daily ritual, gifting you with extra time every day.
Confidence Boost
With perfectly feathered brows framing your face, you can step out confidently, knowing that your brows look impeccable at every moment.
Saving Money in the Long Run
When you factor in the expense of quality brow products, regular salon visits for tinting, and the value of your time saved, the investment in eyebrow feathering often proves more cost-effective.
Hassle-Free Maintenance
After the initial session and touch-up, you can largely forget about your brows in terms of daily maintenance. This is super beneficial if you have a busy lifestyle, hit the gym regularly or simply prefer a more effortless beauty routine.
At Tanya Beauty Care, our aim isn't just to deliver great brows but to boost your confidence and simplify your routine. So, is eyebrow feathering worth the price? For so many, the benefits it brings makes it a resounding 'yes!'.

What costs are involved in eyebrow feathering aftercare?
You’ve made the investment in getting those brows on point and correct aftercare will prolong their life - feathered eyebrows generally last from 6 to 18 months.
You’ll receive a healing ointment from Tanya Beauty Care as part of your eyebrow feathering package and we recommend a touch-up from 6 to 12 weeks after your initial appointment, which is included in the cost of your eyebrow feathering. If you require your brows to be refreshed after that time, eyebrow tattoo maintenance will cost between $150 (within 3 months) and $800 (after 2 to 3 years).
There are a few immediate aftercare tips that can make sure that money is well-spent and ensure the longevity of your brows.
Keep your brows dry: For the first week, no water on the brows. It helps the colour stay in place.
Use the cream: We give you a special cream, part of your package. Put it on to help with healing and maintain the colour.
Avoid direct sun: Too much sun can make the colour fade. When out and about, wear sunscreen or a hat.
Stay gentle: No rough scrubbing or exfoliating on the brows.
Cost of removing an eyebrow tattoo
If a cosmetic procedure didn't quite go as expected, sometimes tattoos don't turn out the way we hope. When this happens it's crucial to turn to trusted professionals for correction, to ensure you don't make the issue even worse.
At Tanya Beauty Care, we bring our extensive experience with laser tattoo removal and meticulous approach to each session.
In Australia, the cost of laser cosmetic tattoo removal isn't one-size-fits-all. Several factors determine the price, such as the tattoo's size, the volume of ink, and the presence of any scar tissue.
Tanya Beauty Care's Pricing Structure:
- First Session: $300
- Second Session: $250
- Third Session: $200
- Fourth Session: $150
The exact number of sessions required will vary for each person. During our initial consultation, we provide a clear breakdown, helping you understand the journey ahead and ensure there are no surprises.
The bottom line? Choose an artist and salon wisely from the beginning, and you're more likely to avoid unexpected costs and disappointments down the line.
